SMP Of SoCal
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a treatment that gives the illusion of having a fuller, thicker scalp of hair.

Pigment is deposited into the scalp to replicate hair follicles, creating the appearance of a fuller head of hair
SMP is a cosmetic tattoo, a procedure for depositing micro dots of a specially formulated ink into the scalp, this ink is different than what is used in traditional tattoos.
This special type of tattoo is designed to fade over time rather than turn green like a traditional tattoo.
SMP acts as a concealer for baldness or bald spots, a treatment that can last as long as 10 years. However, a touchup is usually desired every 2-5 years. This is dependent on the amount of UV exposure / lifestyle of the client exposes themselves to.
A micro needle is used to insert an organic ink into the upper portion of the dermal layer of the scalp, near the epidermis. This type of tattoo is closer to the outer surface of the skin, than traditional tattoos, but needs to be deep enough so that it does not fade with exfoliation.
This is a very effective camouflaging technique that gives immediate results, unlike anything else on the market such as hair transplants, hair growth products such as Minoxidil or hair filler powders or hair pieces and wigs. However, SMP can be used along with other solutions. Some of my clients use this treatment with hair transplants, to make their transplanted hair look fuller.
It's a treatment for both men and women, a treatment that doesn't have the hassles of maintenance such as with wigs, hair pieces or hair powders.
The treatment is a process of intricate art, that should be done by an experienced artist, where the artist applies the correct and consistent amount of pressure into the top 2 layers of the skin, to create a 3-dimentinal pattern that matches the client’s skin tone, hair color, hair thickness and existing hair pattern.
Best results come from 3 sessions, to giving that 3-D outcome, done through a layering technique with multiple sessions. With each session, the shade of the ink is different as well as the size of the needle, and depending on what part of the scalp is being treated, the pressure also varies.

Scalp Micropigmentation is used for reconstructing a receding hairline, increasing the appearance of hair density and/or camouflage of bald spots, including the concealing of scars on the scalp, or face where facial hair is missing.
